Welcome to the SERF Discussion Groups

Click logo to enter

This is a place for SERF Members to share their experiences, ideas, and lessons learned in a series of moderated forums.  The SERF Discussion Groups are divided into six categories:

  • What do you think?
  • I have a concern ...
  • We do it this way ...
  • Here's what I've learned ...
  • Incident-Emergency Report summaries ...
  • Your feedback is important

Under each of these categories, there are several forums (e.g. “ERT - full time job or just an additional duty?”) with one or more specific topics relating to each forum open for moderated discussion (go to Index and click on the forum of interest to see the open topics then click on any topic that interests you to join its discussion).

Why moderated discussions?  A professional discussion offers a way to examine a topic by examining different points of view.  Answers that stifle discussion are discouraged (e.g. yes, no, that doesn't apply to us, legal wouldn't approve, it costs too much, etc.).  It is the moderator's responsibility to encourage debate and keep the discussion focused on its topic.

Membership.  For a limited time, you do not need to be a member of SESHA to participate in the SERF Discussion Groups.  However, you must register separately for the SERF Discussion Groups even if you are a SESHA member.

Registration.  By clicking on the SERF logo above, you will be taken to the SERF Discussion Groups Login page.  Note: This Login is totally separate from the SESHA Member Login.

If you are already registered for the SERF Discussion Groups, enter your SERF username and password when asked, then click “Login.”

If not, click on “Not registered yet?” to begin the SERF registration process.  Your SERF “username” will be your first and last names (e.g. John Smith).

Once your SERF registration has been accepted (usually a matter of a few minutes), you will receive an e-mail with your temporary SERF password.  You can change this password in your “SERF Profile” after you have logged on.

Be sure to complete all fields in the “Essentials” and “Personal” sections of your “SERF Profile” menu.
