Release - October 2, 2007
To make the annual SESHA Lecture Tour and Scholarship Program a success,
SESHA needs YOU!
There are many ways you can help:
- Become a Lecturer! Lecturers for the Stout/University of MN-Duluth Tour (to be held at UMD), Murray State Kentucky Tour, and Cal-Poly Tour are needed! Please contact Lecture Tour Coordinator Rebecca Anderson at rander@berkeley.edu for details. The lecture tours are wonderful outreach (and recruiting!) opportunities. (Lodging is provided for the Murray State Tour and carpooling from the bay area is available to the Cal-Poly Tour)
- Submit a Hot Topic! Send an email to Rebecca Anderson with a topic that YOU would like to see as the subject of an EHS graduate student's SESHA research paper. For the SESHA scholarship program, students must submit abstracts to be chosen as a scholarship winner who will prepare a research paper/presentation on their topic- to be presented at the annual SESHA symposium. Please help these students choose solid, relevant topics to our field by sending an email to rander@berkeley.edu.
- Become an Industry Mentor! Serve as a Technical Advisor, and fulfill the following:
- Have your name and contact information on a list of Industry Mentors, which would be given to the students during the lecture tour series
- As an Industry Mentor, you may or may not be contacted by a student and you would always reserve the right to decline any contact you feel would not be in your area of expertise or applicable to your work situation
- Assist at least one student by answering industry specific questions, directing them to helpful individuals / companies for additional information, and providing advice on research methods
- You would NOT be asked to proofread research papers, contribute content to research papers or be responsible in any way for the content or quality of the student papers
- The time commitment for being an Industry Mentor is VERY low, but the rewards are huge- please consider volunteering your name today.
