Lonnie began his career in safety upon graduation from the University of Minnesota-Duluth with a MS in Industrial Safety & Hygiene in 1990. His graduation also marked his first exposure to the semiconductor industry, courtesy of an organization that you might have heard of - the Semiconductor Safety Association.
Because of SSA's strong commitment to students, Lonnie was provided a terrific opportunity and took work at Hughes Aircraft Company in Newport Beach, CA in support of their microelectronics division - talk about culture clash; this fella from Glidden, WI (population ~500 including dogs) hit the beaches of Southern California!
After plenty of exposure to the challenges of the semiconductor industry while at Hughes, a company by the name of Intel came calling, and off to Albuquerque he went... It was around that time that an SSA friend by the name of Tom Lane came along and "volunteered" Lonnie to become a more active participant in SSA, beginning a very fulfilling time of continuously expanding SSA responsibilities including chapter leadership, conference planning, and Board or Director membership (2 terms), culminating with his service as the SESHA president in 2002 and election as SESHA Fellow in 2005.
Lonnie is a Certified Safety Professional and has been with Intel now for just 13 years, serving as their Worldwide Safety Manager for the last 5. He is married to his best friend Abigail (13 years) and they have one son, Dylan (age 7) and is blessed to have another on the way, due December 2005.
